Here’s the part worth saying upfront, honestly: <\/span>you cannot get a real Indonesian +62 number from outside Indonesia.<\/b> Not from Numero, not from any virtual number provider. Indonesia’s SIM registration rules make that structurally impossible without being physically present. What you <\/span>can<\/span><\/i> get is a working virtual number or eSIM from a supported country that keeps you reachable on WhatsApp, Telegram, calls, and general contact \u2014 just not on anything that specifically requires a SIM registered inside Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Needs a general contact line for buyers, suppliers, and logistics partners outside the platform itself \u2014 separate from platform-side account verification, which has its own rules (covered below).<\/span><\/p>\n

The IT freelancer billing Jakarta or Surabaya clients.<\/b> Often based in Dubai, Riyadh, Singapore, or Australia. Needs a stable contact number on invoices and project boards, and a reachable line for SMS verification on non-Indonesian SaaS tools.<\/span><\/p>\n

What unites all three: they need to be <\/span>reachable<\/span><\/i>, not necessarily to hold an Indonesian number specifically. Once that distinction is clear, the right tool is easier to pick.<\/span><\/p>\n

The KYC Wall That Makes This Impossible to Work Around<\/b><\/h2>\n

In 2017, Indonesia tied every SIM card to a NIK (Nomor Induk Kependudukan), the Indonesian national identity number. Tourists can register a SIM with a passport, but only in person at a carrier kiosk at Soekarno-Hatta or Ngurah Rai. Non-residents living abroad cannot get a Telkomsel, XL, or Indosat SIM remotely, and nobody can ship one internationally already activated. Family can buy a SIM and register it, but it has to be registered against <\/span>their<\/span><\/i> NIK \u2014 the legal owner of that line is your relative, not you.<\/span><\/p>\n

This isn’t a gap that a virtual number provider can close. Virtual numbers work by routing calls and SMS over VoIP through numbers issued in countries where remote registration is legal.
