What Numero eSIM does
Numero eSIM builds eSIM services on top of established mobile networks and delivers them through its own app, so a traveller can be online and reachable in another country within minutes of landing. It was the first app to offer mobile data and phone numbers together: virtual phone numbers, calling and SMS credit, and eSIM data plans in one place. More background is on the About Numero eSIM page.
How you use it depends on the product:
- Virtual numbers live in the Numero eSIM app. Calls and messages arrive there, not in your phone's own dialler or messaging app.
- A Data eSIM or Full eSIM installs on the device itself, in the phone's settings, and works like any other line. You can buy one on the website or in the app and manage the plan from either.
Who uses Numero eSIM
- Travellers who want mobile data abroad without roaming charges.
- People who need a phone number in a country they do not live in, so a bank, a marketplace, a ride-hailing or delivery app, a landlord or a business contact can reach them there.
- Anyone who wants a second number kept apart from their personal one.
- People calling abroad who prefer a per-country plan to a roaming bill.
The four products and how they differ
In short: the Data eSIM is internet only, a virtual number is a phone line only, the Full eSIM puts both on one line, and calling plans add low-cost international minutes.
| Product | What it gives you | Coverage | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Virtual phone number | A phone line in the app for calls and SMS | Over 80 countries | $3.99 to $38.00 a month |
| Data eSIM | Mobile data only, no phone number | 200+ destinations | From €3.50 |
| Full eSIM | Data, minutes and a working phone number on one line | 200+ countries | From €16.00 |
| Calling plans | Minutes to mobile and landline numbers | 190+ countries | Priced by destination |
1. Virtual phone numbers: over 80 countries
A phone number you keep for as long as the subscription runs. There are five types:
| Type | Where | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile numbers | Including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Lithuania, Ukraine, Denmark, Belgium, Chile, Brazil and Nicaragua | $3.99 to $38.00 a month |
| Additional countries | Including Spain, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Georgia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Ireland, Argentina, Czech Republic and many more | From $4.00 a month |
| Toll-free numbers | Including Canada, Colombia, Cyprus, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Hungary, Serbia and South Africa | $7.00 to $78.00 a month |
| US area-code numbers | Including New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Las Vegas, Baltimore, Jersey City, New Jersey, Michigan (Adrian) and Texas City | $5.00, or $3.49 discounted |
| App-specific numbers | For WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, PayPal, Amazon, TikTok, Apple, Instagram, Stripe, OpenAI, Claude and Binance | Per country, as above |
Numbers are billed monthly, quarterly or annually. Annual terms start at $41.99 a year.
What every number does. Every Numero eSIM number makes and receives calls and sends SMS. Incoming calls are included, from any number and any country.
Receiving SMS depends on the number type:
- Mobile numbers receive SMS. Choose this type if you need texts to reach the number.
- Additional-country numbers do not support incoming SMS, and each country page says so.
- Toll-free numbers vary by country, so check the country page before buying.
Incoming SMS arrive inside the Numero eSIM app, not in your phone's own messaging app.
WhatsApp works with every mobile-number country except Nicaragua, and with the toll-free numbers for Denmark and Colombia. WhatsApp support is narrower than SMS support: a number that receives SMS does not automatically work with WhatsApp. See Numero eSIM numbers for WhatsApp.
Some countries require identity documents by local regulation, and the country page says so before you buy.
2. Data eSIM: 200+ destinations
Mobile internet abroad with no roaming charges. It is data only and does not include a phone number. Plans are sold by country and by region: Global, Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, North America and Oceania.
- From €3.50 for 1 GB over 7 days.
- Plans last from 3 to 30 days.
- Every plan names its operator and network generation, for example T-Mobile 5G in the United States, Orange 5G in France and Zain 5G in Saudi Arabia.
Daily high-speed plans. In the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, plus a Europe plan, there are plans built around a daily high-speed allowance. They come in six durations from 3 to 30 days, starting at €9 (Turkey, 3 days). The Europe plan runs from €9 to €59. All of them use 5G except Egypt, which uses 2G, 3G and 4G.
How the daily allowance works, from the Terms and Conditions:
High-speed data is available up to 2GB within any 24-hour period. Once 2GB of usage is reached, data speeds will be reduced to 1 Mbps for the remainder of that 24-hour period. The high-speed data allowance automatically resets every 24 hours.
3. Full eSIM: data, calls and a real number in 200+ countries
One line that carries mobile data, calling minutes and a working phone number, in 200+ countries plus Global and Europe plans. It is supplied through Orange and esimnet.
- From €16.00 for 20 GB over 30 days, with a number included.
- Each plan states the number's country and dialling code, the data amount, and the local and international minutes and SMS included.
This is the product for someone who needs to be online and reachable on a number at the same time. Most travel eSIM providers sell data only. Browse Full eSIM plans by country or regional Full eSIM plans.
4. International calling plans: 190+ countries
Local calling plans cover countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Netherlands, Ireland, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Cyprus, Mexico, Canada and South Africa, among others.
There are also two international sets: Calling Offers and EU Calling Bundles.
Plans are sold monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually, and each one lists its minutes to mobile and landline numbers.
Devices and platforms
- The Numero eSIM app runs on iOS and Android.
- eSIM products need an eSIM-capable device. Most phones, tablets and laptops released in recent years qualify. Your existing SIM stays in the device and keeps working alongside the Numero eSIM.
- Virtual numbers do not need an eSIM-capable device. They work through the app over any internet connection, so an older phone can still use one.
How activation works
A virtual phone number
Bought in the app, the number is ready as soon as the purchase completes. There is nothing else to do.
Bought on the website, it takes four steps:
- Choose your number and complete the purchase on the website.
- Download the Numero eSIM app for iOS or Android.
- Link the app to your purchase with the code the website shows after checkout. Scan it from the app, or copy it and paste it in.
- Start using it. The number appears in the app, and calls and messages run through the app.
The code is what connects a website purchase to the app. Until it is entered, the number sits on your account with nowhere to ring. The full guide is on how to use virtual numbers and calls.
A Data eSIM or Full eSIM
Buy on the website or in the app, then install by QR code, manual entry or direct install, whichever suits the device. Step-by-step guides for iPhone and Android, with a video, are in the Data eSIM setup guide and the Full eSIM setup guide.
The short version on iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code. Scan the code, tap through the activation screen, label the line, then choose which line handles calls, texts and mobile data. Android works the same way. Keep a stable internet connection during installation.
A plan starts when you reach the destination, or automatically after a set period, depending on the plan.
